Jason Edge
Musical Director (From May)

Jason Edge brings a unique blend of creativity, experience, and passion to his role as Musical Director of the Epsom Male Voice Choir. His journey as a musical director began at the age of 12 when he was appointed Organist and Choirmaster at Eye Church, Peterborough. Educated at The King’s (Cathedral) School, Jason trained as an organist under Christopher Gower (Master of the Music at Peterborough Cathedral). He later graduated from Kingston University, where he studied Music and Technology and won Organ Scholarships both at the University and at the Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace, where he subsequently became Organist. He also undertook postgraduate research in Algorithmic Composition, exploring the use of artificial intelligence in musical creativity.
With over four decades of experience, Jason has built a successful career spanning performance, choral leadership, theatre work, recording, and music production. His diverse career includes directing choirs and ensembles of all sizes, from local community groups to national ensembles like RSCM Voices (South), a flagship choir of the Royal School of Church Music. This role involved leading monthly choral workshops and performances in cathedrals and other notable venues across the UK. He was commissioned to write the announcement idents for Eurostar’s latest fleet of trains, and he worked as a recording engineer and producer for several years. An improviser at heart, Jason delights in combining traditional aspects of music with innovative technology and approaches. He is also Director of Music at St Matthew’s Church, Surbiton.
Alongside music, Jason has worked as an IT consultant, developing systems and advising organisations ranging from start-ups to corporates and international governments (including several years working in the Middle East). He continues to be amazed by the creative overlaps that occur between his work in music and technology.
In his work with choirs, Jason is passionate about creating inclusive, engaging, and rewarding environments where singers of all abilities can thrive and reach high levels of achievement. He is thrilled to bring this vision, alongside his enthusiasm and expertise, to the Epsom Male Voice Choir. Building on its proud tradition, Jason looks forward to leading the choir into a new and exciting chapter of musical exploration and achievement.
Jason and his wife Catherine have four children and have lived in Surbiton for over thirty years.
